History

The BECOM BLUETECHNIX GmbH, with its subsidiary BLUETECHNIX Lab GmbH (EMC Laboratory) was founded in 2004 and is a multiply certified Austrian high-tech provider for embedded system solutions. The BLUETECHNIX Lab GmbH owns a state accredited testing laboratory for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).

The company has around 20 employees and is part of the BECOM group. BECOM has been successfully involved in the contract development and production of electronic and electromechanical devices and equipment since 1985; from prototypes to pilot series, and on to series production. The BECOM group has more than EUR 80m revenues. It is one of the leading Austrian supplier of electronics engineering & manufacturing services with production sites in Austria and Hungary.

While Bluetechnix has grown with the business field of System on Modules and has so far delivered more than 100,000 modules to over 1,000 customers worldwide, in 2011 the business field was change to 3D ToF sensors. Meanwhile Bluetechnix belongs to the selective group of world-renowned experts in time of flight (ToF) based depth camera solutions for the industrial market.

2015

  • Development of the first generation of the Melexis EVKs
  • Bluetechnix opens an office in Austin (Texas)

2014

  • Launch of the modular ToF Kits
  • Launch of the Argos 3D - P3xx platform
  • Launch of the Sentis 3D - M5xx platform
  • Bluetechnix opens an office in Sunnyvale (Silicon Valley)
  • Over 40 employees are working at Bluetechnix

2013

  • Merkur Award of the Vienna Chamber of Commerce
  • Start of two research projects at the flied of Depth Sensing and partnership with the research center JRZ at the university of applies Technikum Wien
  • Sales office in Dusseldorf (Germany)
  • Partnership with Infineon, Espros and Texas Instruments
  • Market launch of the first ToF based depth sensors: Argos3D - P100 & SentisToF - M100
  • Over 30 employees are working at Bluetechnix
  • Bluetechnix GmbH got certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001: 2008 standard

2012

  • Pivotof Bluetechnix as a Depth Camera Manufacturer
  • Introduction of Time-of-Flight technology (ToF) with new products at exhibition Vision 2012

2011

  • Start of the ToF (time of flight) based Depth Sensors and cooperation with pmdtech
  • Acquisition of a certified EMC laboratory from SagemCom which becomes a new business area of Bluetechnix
  • New SoM CM-i.MX53 and Development Board DEV-i.MX53
  • Market launch of Blackfin based Camera- and Audio-Development-Kits (CDK, ADK)
  • Launch of NFC based products

2010

  • Single-Board-Computer SBC-i.MX51 based on i.MX51 from Freescale was launched
  • Partnership with NXP and STMicroelectronics
  • Gregor O. Novak becomes sole owner

2009

  • Over 20 employees are working at Bluetechnix
  • Silica (an Avnet company) and DigiKey are selling products from Bluetechnix

2008

  • The catalog Distributor Farnell is selling Bluetechnix Blackfin SoMs
  • Product launch of two new SoMs: CM-BF527 and CM-BF548

2007

  • Award for the best research proposal from the Austrian research fund (www.fit-it.at) for "Wireless Cargo Monitoring" a low power tracking system for wagons
  • Partnership with the distributor Silica / Avnet to develop the “FireCracker” reference design
  • Start of a new SoM product family based on Freescale's i.MX multimedia processors: CM-i.MX31
  • New office in Vienna, Lainzerstraße 162

2006

  • Product launch of the world’s smallest Blackfin SoM: TCM-BF537 with a size of only 28 x 28 mm
  • Expansion of the product range: CM-BF537E, CM-BF537U as well as appropriate Development and Extender Boards
  • Start the business area of customer specific development of hard- and firmware

2005

  • Market launch of the first products: CM-BF533 and CM-BF561 both System on Modules (SoM) based on Blackfin DSPs - Blackfin is a DSP from Analog Devices

  • Idea and Foundation of Bluetechnix as supplier of System-on-Modules (SoM) by Gregor O. Novak and Stefan Mahlknecht
